Ten things that define Delhi (3)

Number three on my list (perhaps it should have been number one?)

Food ! Finger licking, scrumptious, fattening food!

Whether it is hearty butter chicken, Moghlai cuisine or just roadside chaat, Delhi truly has some amazing food on offer.

This photo is of a very 'standard' meal - butter naan, paneer in butter and tomato gravy, and buttery daal (yes, everything has butter or ghee!). Washed down with a tall lassi.

This is the kind of meal where at the end of it, you sit back a little glassy-eyed and look at the world in a very kindly sort of way.

Wow, yummy! I miss Delhi, have not been there in nearly 3 years. While food is good here in Singapore and there are many "Indian" options, nothing ever beats the taste of Delhi Khana. Made my stomach growl, looking at the picture!

So much of unsaturated fat! Now I understand why Delhi has so many cardiologists and diabetologists, and its hospitals perform so many coronary by-pass operations! Talking about medicos, during my first visit to Poone way back in 1961, I was taken aback to see so many dentist surgeries- I counted 20 in a Road. We did not have so many in the whole of Mysore city! I understood the reason soon!
