Wandering around Delhi with a camera can be rewarding. These are photos of 'ordinary' women, but I found something arresting in all of them.
Waiting at Dilli Haat - there was something regal about her.
She turned, saw the camera and smiled. It completely transformed her.

Hi great post, where these women aware of your photographing them?
ReplyDeleteWonder whether they would be so willing to pose for a western man armed with a camera in Delhi.
Love your blog
The photos aren't mine - my friend Pooja photographed them, so I'll pass on your compliments! Most of them knew they were being photographed, and didnt mind. A couple of them were on the margin of the photo, but because it was a hi-res photo, I could cut them out and post it here. And to answer your question - no I don't think a western man armed with a camera would get as many women to pose.
ReplyDeletedeepa..loved the way you had a quote for every woman..and yes! you were right on all of them..sometimes in the rush of our lives..we fail to see the varied emotions in people and those photos captured them beautifully..
ReplyDeleteRead a couple of your posts...loved the topics..catching photos...nice blog
ReplyDeleteLovely pics. Yes, who ever said that Indian women are meek as mice. I love that these photos show different personalities.
